Golf course maintenance: rolling for healthier grass

Roll your greens with Smithco's green rollers

From the Green Deal, we are working towards maintaining golf courses entirely without the use of pesticides. This requires a very different approach to maintenance: prevention rather than control. How do you meet the requirements of the Green Deal – and later the ban on pesticides – while still ensuring the quality of the golf course? Very short and frequent mowing causes a lot of stress for the grass. Therefore, alternate mowing with rolling: a relatively new technique, which is gaining ground thanks to its promising results. With a greens roller, you cause less stress and less damage to the grass, making it more resistant to diseases, among other benefits. You can read more about rolling in this NGF brochure. At Pols, you'll find smart machines from Smithco for rolling greens and fairways.

Which greens roller do you need for a well-maintained golf course?

Greens roller

The rolling of the grass on the Greens has various advantages. For the players, the game is faster because the grass is more even and of better quality. In addition, it helps to prevent diseases and fungi such as dollar spots, for a long-lasting better quality of the greens. With the Smithco Tournament rollers, you keep your greens in top condition!

Fairways roller

For the large areas of the Fairways Smithco has developed special rollers. With these, you can roll up to four hectares per hour at a working speed of up to 16 km/h. This improves the quality of the fairways and allows you to work quickly and efficiently.
